We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates with you, starting with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who made our launch event a resounding success! On October 17th, we gathered at Fishers in Little Italy to officially kick off Arella, and it was an unforgettable evening.
A Successful Launch at Fishers in Little Italy
The night was filled with warmth, laughter, and inspiration, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to Arella’s journey. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fishers in Little Italy for hosting us in their beautiful space, to our talented photographer Michael McKenna for capturing the evening so perfectly, and to DJ Cameron for setting the tone with incredible music throughout the night. We’re also deeply thankful to the volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly and to everyone who attended to show their support.
It was a night to remember, as we celebrated the official launch of Arella, a nonprofit committed to supporting and empowering survivors of sexual assault through mentorship and community-building programs. The evening was a chance to connect, raise awareness, and share our vision for the future—one where survivors have the resources, support, and community they need to heal and thrive.
What’s Been Happening since then?
🌟San Diego Startup Week Connections
We’re thrilled to report that during San Diego Startup Week, we had the privilege of connecting with influential organizations. These connections have already begun to lay a strong foundation for Arella’s growth as we build our team and prepare for a major 2025. It was inspiring to see so many like-minded individuals and organizations ready to support our mission and collaborate on creating real, positive change for survivors. Thank you to FRESH: Emily Do for sponsoring our presence!
🌟Historic Tax Reform Initiative
In addition to our launch, we’ve been working hard on Arella’s bipartisan tax reform proposal, which aims to make emotional distress compensation tax-exempt. This reform is part of our larger mission to reshape how mental trauma is treated in the legal and tax systems. We are now in week two of working with Rise Justice Labs through their 12-week policy accelerator program, where we are building a strategic roadmap for this vital reform.
This initiative is not just about addressing an issue—it’s about changing how the impact of mental injury is acknowledged by the system. We are working on preparing this proposal for local media coverage, and your support is crucial in making this change a reality.
We invite you to help us spread the word and become an Arella Ally by signing up for our newsletter to stay updated and get involved in this historic change.

Looking Ahead to 2025
As we look toward the new year, we’re planning some exciting programs that will continue to transform the lives of survivors:
🌟Arella Angels Workshops
We’re excited to announce that Arella Angels Workships—a series of community-building events for survivors and their supporters—will officially launch in January 2025! While we’re still fine-tuning the details, we can’t wait to bring survivors together for fun, healing activities that foster connection and community.
Arella Angels will be held every other month, offering Art Therapy Painting and other creative activities like yoga. These gatherings are designed to be a space where survivors and their supporters can come together to heal, connect, and grow in a supportive and uplifting environment. Check out more details here!
🌟Mentorship Program Launch: We Need You!
We’re also preparing to launch our Pilot Mentorship Program, where we’ll match 12 survivors with mentors who will provide support and guidance throughout their healing journey in Q1 of 2025. We’re looking for mentors, mentees, and mentorship managers to join us in this transformative journey. Our program will match survivors with compassionate mentors who have similar lived experiences and provide them with the support they need to heal, grow, and take steps toward justice.
If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of this life-changing opportunity, we encourage you to share Arella’s story and help us spread the word about our mentorship program. We are excited to create a community of survivors and supporters who can uplift each other and drive meaningful change.
Thank You for Your Support
Thank you again for your generosity, your kindness, and your belief in Arella. We couldn’t do this work without you. If you’re willing, please help us spread the word about our mission by sharing our story on Instagram, telling friends, or simply letting others know about the impact Arella is making.
We’re excited to continue this journey with you as we work to empower survivors and create a supportive, healing community. It starts with one connection!
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Arella Dream Team
