Policy Advocacy: A Pillar of Arella

"NO TAX ON TRAUMA ACT"

At Arella, our mission is founded on two core pillars: mentorship and policy advocacy.

Through our policy advocacy pillar, we focus on addressing systemic barriers survivors face—barriers often rooted in outdated policies and inequitable systems. Statistics like “1 in every 4” underscore the urgent need for change in our policy and justice systems. Advocacy allows us to tackle these systemic injustices, creating meaningful, lasting impact for communities and future generations.

In our first year at Arella, we’ve launched the "No Tax on Trauma Act," a federal campaign designed to set a national precedent. This legislation aims to eliminate the taxation of emotional distress compensation providing survivors with equitable treatment under the law.
