Healing the Mind
As a San Diego-based nonprofit, we are proud to highlight the exceptional resources available within our community for maintaining focus, positivity, and transformation on the path to healing. Most of the resources we provide will be San Diego-based, reflecting our deep commitment to our local community. Additionally, we will include national resources for those outside of San Diego to ensure comprehensive support.

The mind plays a crucial role in the healing process after trauma. Traumatic experiences can deeply affect memory, emotions, and overall well-being. Research shows that trauma can lead to symptoms such as flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, and emotional numbness, which are commonly reported by those who have experienced it.

For sexual assault survivors, focusing on mental well-being is an integral part of a holistic healing journey. Addressing these challenges can help in reclaiming a sense of control and fostering long-term recovery. Below are some individuals and organizations that can serve as helpful resources. Please note that this information is provided for general reference, and we do not offer medical advice. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional for personalized care.

At Arella, we prioritize mental well-being as a key component of healing. We require all of our mentees to meet with a local victims' advocate, and we facilitate this connection to ensure our mentees have access to the resources needed to make informed choices on their journey to recovery. Local victims' advocates often provide support regardless of whether or not a police report has been filed.
